Sharon Jones has postponed her up coming tour and the release of her new album to undergo surgery to remove a tumor, Rolling Stone reports.
The singer and her band, The Dap-Kings, were set to release their sixth album Give The People What They Want. However, those plans were postponed after Jones went to the hospital following a bout with illness. “We just found out that I have a stage-one tumor on my bile duct. Fortunately we caught it early and fast and the doctors say it is operable and curable,” Jones said in a statement.
Neither Jones nor anyone associated with the Dap-Kings or Dap-Tone Records has announced a new release date for the album or a new start date for the tour, but Jones says she is eager to get back out there as soon as she can.
