This weekend, Wilco hosted the Solid Sound Festival in Massachusetts, which featured the likes of Low, Yo La Tengo, Neko Case, Foxygen, and Medeski, Martin, & Wood. Naturally, the hosts got to take the stage during the festival at various times, but their closing set on Sunday night was a special treat: rather than play their own songs, Wilco played a set of covers featuring everything from the expected (The Band, Big Star) to the unexpected (Daft Punk).
The set featured numerous guest appearances: Yo La Tengo joined the band for a performance of their own “Tom Courtenay” and The Modern Lovers’ “Roadrunner,” and The Replacements’ Tommy Stinson for a rendition of his band’s “Color Me Impressed.” NYCTaper has the entire set available to download on his website.
