Blur frontman Damon Albarn has been coy about the possibility of a new album from the band since their 2008 reunion, alternately saying that new music was inevitable and that a new album would never happen. Now, with the band more active following their performances at Coachella this year, Albarn is once again talking up a new Blur album, telling the Wall Street Journal that the band would begin working on new music after the release of Albarn’s solo album.
In the interview, Albarn stopped short of giving a timetable for a new Blur album, but he did say that the band were “eager” to start working on new music again. All of this will have to wait for Albarn’s new album, the first one he’s released under his own name. Albarn wouldn’t give any release details for his solo record, either.
