Last week, a lock of Jagger’s hair went up for auction through British auction house Bonham’s. The hair was obtained by the grandmother of Chrissie Shrimpton, Jagger’s girlfriend in the early 1960s. Just how much would somebody pay for just a couple hairs trimmed from the head of the famous rock star? $6,000, apparently. Bidding reached more than double what was expected, amounting to 4,000 pounds (about $6,000). Shrimpton sold the lock of hair to raise money for Changing Faces, a UK-based charity that helps people with disfigurements. Bonhams also sold David Bowie’s handwritten lyrics to “The Jean Genie” for 18,750 pounds (about $28,000) and a guitar previously owned by Jimmy Page for 26,250 pounds (about $39,000), among other items.
