Robby Krieger and John Densmore will reunite onstage later this year at a tribute concert for their former Doors bandmate Ray Manzarek, who died earlier this year. Krieger confirmed the reunion to Rolling Stone, saying that the two would do “one show to give Ray a big send-off.”
Densmore had previously been on the outs with Krieger and Manzarek over their decision to tour under the Doors name in the early 2000’s, and he even went so far as to pen a memoir that occasionally blasted his two former bandmates. However, after Manzarek’s passing, the two started talking again. Krieger has left the door open to playing with Densmore more often in the future, but he admitted that it would probably be best to wait after the furor over Densmore’s book calms down.
After the Manzarek tribute, Krieger said that he hoped to continue playing with Densmore as well as reissuing the Doors albums Other Voices and Full Circle, both of which were recorded without Jim Morrison.
