If you’re going to make a CBGB biopic, then you’d better have a damn good soundtrack to go with it. Fortunately, CBGB: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will feature many of the bands that brought punk to New York in the ’70s, including Blondie, Talking Heads and the Velvet Underground. Bands like the Stooges, the New York Dolls, Flamin’ Groovies and the Police also make appearances on the album.
The film dives into the history of the famous Bowery club and its owner, Hilly Krystal, played by Alan Rickman. Malin Akerman, Ryan Hurst and Ashley Greene will also star in the movie.
CBGB will debut at the CBGB Festival and will open in select cities on Oct.11, and the soundtrack will be released on CD and double-LP on Oct. 8.
