Elton John is getting some rest at his home in France after he underwent surgery to remove his appendix. John had the operation at the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco last Thursday, according to the BBC.
John, 66, had cancelled numerous festival dates last month because he was diagnosed with appendicitis. John is expected to return to the stage next month just in time to headline the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.
“Your well wishes have touched me deeply and will play a big part in my recovery,” John wrote to his fans on his website last week. “I cannot wait to see you all and thank you in person when I resume my concert schedule later this year.”
This fall, his new solo album is due out. The Diving Board, set for release on Sept. 24, will be his first solo album in seven years. He will also receive the Brits Icon award next month. He will be the award’s first recipient.
