Dave Grohl cannot be stopped. 2013 was huge for the former Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters frontman: He directed the popular Sound City documentary, organized shows with his Sound City Players, performed on albums by Queens of the Stone Age and Joan Jett, directed a few music videos, and performed with the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney. You’d think he’d want to take a break, but Grohl told XM that the Foo Fighters’ next album is already written.
“We have been in our studio writing, and in the past few weeks, we’ve written an album, and we are going to make this album in a way that no one’s ever done before, and we’re pretty excited about it,” he said. “It’s a little ways off; it’s not ready to happen right now, but I think next year is going to be a really big year for the Foo Fighters without question.”
“We actually just started making a new Foo Fighter record within the last few weeks,” guitarist Chris Shiflett told Rolling Stone. “We’ve started rehearsing.” It seems like the whole band is excited about the new album. Drummer Taylor Hawkins (who’s been busy himself starring as Iggy Pop in the upcoming CBGB film) told Billboard, “Dave has his brain working overtime, like usual, and he’s got a lot of great ideas, both musically and conceptually—none that I can speak of at this moment, but it’s gonna be great.”
