Things have gotten ugly between Jack White and his ex-wife, singer/songwriter/model Karen Elson. Elson was granted a restraining order against White last Monday, July 22. White is not allowed to have “any contact with [Elson] whatsoever except as it relates to parenting time with the parties’ minor children,” reported the Nashville City Paper. The couple split in 2011.

In the restraining order affidavit, Elson cites White’s violent temper, harassment and refusal to attend family counseling, saying that he is an unfit father. Elson, who has primary custody of their two children, said she “fears for her and the children’s safety as a result of this harassment.”

According to Elson, White contacted her paralegal “in an inappropriate and aggressive manner,” made derogatory comments about her to their business manager and continuously harassed her about the settlement terms of the divorce via phone calls, texts and emails.

Elson said that White even demanded that she take their kids out of a class at their private school because he didn’t want them in a class with the child of another entertainer who he claims “ripped off” his music.  An e-mail from White that was released today revealed that the musician in question is Black Keys guitarist Dan Auerbach.

Elson’s attorney, Rose Palermo, said that she and Elson have been trying to settle the dispute privately. Palermo also reportedly requested that White be taken in for a custodial psychological evaluation. Elson and White are set to attend a custody hearing on Aug. 29.
