Robin Thicke has been enjoying the popularity of his latest hit “Blurred Lines,” but he’s also been making the news for the preemptive legal action he has undergone against the Gaye estate. Thicke has been seeking a judge’s clearance on the song, saying that “Blurred Lines” doesn’t violate Marvin Gaye’s copyrights.
But in a recent interview with TMZ, Marvin Gaye’s son suggested that Thicke not only ripped off of his father’s 1977 hit “Got to Give it Up,” but others too. Gaye III said, “If you listen to the music, I’m sure anyone will see the similarities clearly between what my father does and what Robin Thicke has been trying to.” When asked if he would pursue legal action against Thicke, Gaye III didn’t answer, but his displeasure with the situation was clear as he said, “There’s a way to do business and way to not do business, and we’re not happy about the way he’s doing business.” You can watch the interview below.
