Oakland-based graphic designer Lauren LoPete has come up with the perfect way to represent Smiths frontman Morrissey’s notorious glum lyrics—by teaming them up with Peanuts panels. With the gloomy Morrissey and the downtrodden Charlie Brown, how can you go wrong?
In the Tumblr, called This Charming Charlie, Snoopy ponders, “Does the body rule the mind or does the mind rule the body?” while Peppermint Patty declares, “I lost my faith in womanhood” and Charlie Brown says, “What a terrible mess I’ve made of my life,” as he accidentally douses himself with water at a water fountain. It’s the loving cartoon characters of your childhood paired with the depressing cynicism of your teen years—that’s what we call nostalgia. According to her site, LoPrete was inspired by a 1986 Smiths poster that featured Charlie Brown.
