Dave Grohl’s popular Sound City documentary and Cameron Crowe’s Pearl Jam Twenty will be the latest additions to VH1’s Rock Docs series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Grohl’s doc dives into the story of the eponymous California studio where Nirvana recorded Nevermind in 1991. The film also features stars such as Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, Neil Young, Rivers Cuomo, Trent Reznor and Rick Springfield, all of whom have put in time at the studio at one point or another.
Pearl Jam Twenty, which recounts the band’s early years and their rise to fame up through their 20 anniversary, includes more than 1,200 hours of rare and never-before-seen band footage.
Sound City will air this Saturday, Aug. 17. Pearl Jam Twenty will air Oct. 12, right before the release of Pearl Jam’s next album, Lightning Bolt, which is due out Oct. 15.
