Punk-rock pioneers Television are back on the road after announcing their first U.S. tour since 2007. The tour announcement also comes with the news that Television frontman Tom Verlaine has recorded a new collection of songs with the current incarnation of the band.
The songs, which Verlaine recorded in 2007 following a successful reunion show at New York’s Central Park, are the first that he’s recorded under the Television name since their first reunion album in 1992. According to Television drummer Billy Fica, the songs are still waiting for vocal tracks and final mixes, and no official release date for an album has been set. “It’ll happen before we all die,” Fica told Rolling Stone.
Current Television guitarist Jimmy Rip has hinted that Television will play some new material on tour. Here’s hoping that Tom Verlaine came up with some lyrics over the past six years.
