Heather Stewart’s new album What It Is comes out on October 8th, and our first taste of the album comes today with Stewart’s achingly personal, beautiful new single “Had It All.” The song recalls bits of Heather’s own life and choices: a former TV executive who worked on E!’s Talk Soup, Heather gave it all up to pursue her true calling in music. Heather describes the song as “a love song of sorts…about a love of life and taking a chance to have it all.” When Heather sings “Have I climbed so high/I won’t survive the fall,” she seems less worried and more excited about what could be coming next.
In conjunction with the new single, Heather has released a video for “Had It All,” which premieres today exclusively through Elmore Magazine. In it, Heather finger-picks her way through “Had It All” live in the studio with help from co-writer Brad Swanson. You can check out the video below, and you can get “Had It All” today on Heather’s Bandcamp page.
