This week, the Capitol Theatre is hosting a throwback night of sorts: power-poppers Fountains of Wayne (they of “Stacy’s Mom” fame) headline a bill featuring ’90s icons Soul Asylum and a solo performance from one of the most underrated songwriters of his era. Evan Dando first made a name for himself as the lead singer/songwriter of The Lemonheads, and he became one of the biggest alternative stars of the decade with hits like “My Drug Buddy,” “It’s A Shame About Ray,” and his cover of “Mrs. Robinson.” Since then, Dando has reformed the Lemonheads for an excellent self-titled reunion album and a string of dynamic live performances. Get ready for the opener to steal the show at this one.
