This year’s CBGB Festival is presented plenty for music fans to love, but this could very well be our pick of the bunch. The Meat Puppets have long had a reputation as your favorite band’s favorite band, largely because a they were the favorite band of Nirvana, who themselves are a lot of people’s favorite band. Despite never making it as big as the band that idolized them, the Meat Puppets are still regarded highly among music fans, making their 2006 reunion all the more inevitable and welcome. They’re taking the early shift at Brooklyn Bowl this weekend; expect a fiery live performance of that punk-country hybrid that they do better than anyone else.
