Earlier this week, Beck announced his return to recorded music with Morning Phase, due out next year. However, as some Beck fans know, the eccentric singer/songwriter already has an album that he’s touring behind. Released in 2012, Beck’s Song Reader can only be purchased as sheet music, owing to Beck’s insistence that the music is meant to be interpreted by the fans as they see fit. That’s all well and good, but most fans would likely want to hear Beck’s interpretation of Song Reader. Now, they’re going to get that chance.
On November 24th, Beck will host an all-star night at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles where he will play material from Song Reader. Confirmed for the show so far are Jack Black, John C. Reilly, Jarvis Cocker, Jenny Lewis, Van Dyke Parks, Childish Gambino and Moses Sumney. All of Beck’s guests will present their versions of his Song Reader material.
Beck has only played Song Reader material in concert twice before: once at a performance in San Francisco in May and again in London in July, where he shared the stage with Cocker and members of Franz Ferdinand.
