Ed Sheeran has released a new video for “I See Fire,” a song he wrote for Peter Jackson’s upcoming J.R.R. Tolkein film, The Desolation of Smaug, the sequel to 2012’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
The simple black-and-white video has Sheeran in the studio doing what he does best: crooning and playing some dramatic acoustic guitar. Sheeran shows off his many talents in this song, for which he produced and recorded all the instruments (with the exception of the cello). “Managed to learn violin for a day,” Sheeran said on Twitter earlier this week. “Hope you all enjoy it.”
You can purchase the song now on iTunes, and the Desolation of Smaug soundtrack is available for pre-order. It will be officially released on Dec. 10. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will be released on Dec. 13. You can watch the video for “I See Fire” below.
