It looks like the Foo Fighters’ hiatus may be over. According to the band’s website, the Foo Fighters will be heading to Mexico City next month for their first full concert since frontman Dave Grohl announced the band’s hiatus last year. They will perform at the Foro Sol stadium on Dec. 13, and the National will open for them.
Grohl made the hiatus announcement almost exactly a year ago. “I’m not sure when the Foo Fighters are going to play again,” he said at the time. “It feels strange to say that, but it’s a good thing for all of us to go away for a while.”
Still, despite Grohl’s many projects and the band’s hiatus announcement, it seems like the guys just couldn’t stay away from the studio. In February, Grohl said, “We’re not on hiatus, we’re on ‘I hate us,’ and yes, we are already writing the new record.”
Back in August, guitarist Chris Shiflett also said that the Foo Fighters were rehearsing songs for a new album. “It was a very short hiatus,” Shiflett told Rolling Stone over the summer. “We’re going to start recording the new Foo Fighters record at the beginning of next year.”
