This Monday is Veteran’s Day, a time for us to commemorate those who have fought for our country. To celebrate the event, we’ve got another Elmore-approved soundtrack for your holiday. There are plenty of songs about the horrors and politics of war, but we picked out a few songs written in honor of soldiers. Here are some songs you soldiers and music lovers can enjoy, no matter your political persuasion.
“Remember the Heroes” by Sammy Hagar
“Remember the heroes
Who fight for the right to choose
Remember the heroes
We’ve all got a lot to lose”
“Arlington” by Trace Adkins
“We’re thankful for those thankful for the things we’ve done
We can rest in peace, ‘cause we are the chosen ones
We made it to Arlington, yeah dust to dust
Don’t cry for us; we made it to Arlington”
“If You’re Reading This” by Tim McGraw
“I’m laying down my gun
I’m hanging up boots
I’m up here with God, and we’re both watching over you”
“Some Gave All” by Billy Ray Cyrus
“All gave some, some gave all
Some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me, think of all your liberties
And recall some gave all”
“Rooster” by Alice in Chains
“Here they come to snuff the rooster
You know he ain’t gonna die
No, no, no you know he ain’t gonna die”
“Travelin’ Soldier” by the Dixie Chicks
“Waitin’ for the love of a travelin’ soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin’ for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone when the letter said
A soldier’s coming home”
“American Soldier” by Toby Keith
“I’m an American soldier, an American
Beside my brothers and my sisters, I will proudly take a stand
When liberty’s in jeopardy, I will always do what’s right
I’m out here on the front lines, so sleep in peace tonight”
“Letters from Home” by John Michael Montgomery
“I fold it up and put it in my shirt
Pick up my gun and get back to work
And it keeps me drivin’ on, waitin’ on
Letters from home”
“Welcome Home” by Dolly Parton
“Welcome home, son
I’ve been prayin’ and been hopin’ , and I never did give up
I knew that you’d return to me
The place where you were meant to be”
“I Just Came Back From a War” by Darryl Worley
“I hope you cherish this sweet way of life
And I hope you know that it comes with a price”
“Soldier Boy” by the Shirelles

Oh, my little soldier boy
I’ll be true to you”
“Bang the Drum Slowly” by Emmylou Harris
“I meant to ask you how to fix that car
I always meant to ask you about the war
And what you saw across a bridge too far
Did it leave a scar?”
“The Fightin’ Side of Me” by Merle Haggard
“Yeah, walkin’ on the fightin’ side of me
Runnin’ down the way of life
Our fightin’ men have fought and died to keep”

I will fight for the right
To live in freedom”
