The highly-anticipated new collection of Beatles BBC recordings has just been released, and many fans are no doubt waiting for more material from the vaults containing the Fab Four’s long-unreleased radio work. According to Kevin Howlett, who worked on compiling the latest Beatles BBC compilation, that’s probably not going to happen…but something else is.
“There are no plans at the moment,” Howlett told Billboard when asked if more of the Beatles’ radio sessions would be unearthed. “The Beatles completists out there may want to own every version of ‘Twist and Shout’ and I understand that because every version of ‘Twist and Shout’ is really good, but I don’t know if we want to go that far.” However, Howlett did confirm that another archival Beatles release was forthcoming…but he wouldn’t say what it was. “There is something, but I don’t think we’re allowed to talk about it yet,” Howlett said. “If you work on these Beatles projects, you have to be very discreet. It’s all top secret.”
The Beatles’ On Air: Live At The BBC Vol. 2 is available now.
