There may not be a group who works harder than Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Randolph, who has come a long way from his beginnings in the House of God Church, just doesn’t seem to stop. His new album, Lickety Split, is indicative of that driving work ethic; it’s a heady combination of blues, soul, and gospel that melds into something truly unique. As good as the album is, it’s Randolph’s live shows that are the stuff of legend. His scintillating guitar work is the sort of thing you simply have to see to believe, and Randolph’s giving Brooklyn four nights to catch him at Williamsburg’s Brooklyn Bowl. You’d be a fool to miss this one.
