Christine McVie has rejoined Fleetwood Mac after a 16-year period away from music. Drummer Mick Fleetwood announced the news at Willie K’s BBQ Blues Fest in Hawaii this weekend.
McVie rejoined the band briefly last year for two shows on their European tour, but Stevie Nicks brushed off the chance of a reunion at the time by saying that McVie “is done.” However, McVie dialed back on this a few weeks later, telling the Guardian that “if they were to ask me I would be very delighted.”
McVie is the sole member of Fleetwood Mac’s most popular lineup to not participate in any recent reunions of the band, having last performed as a full-time Fleetwood Mac member for their 1997 live album The Dance. The band released a digital EP on their website last year, but they haven’t recorded a full-length albums since 2003’s Say You Will.
