In a Q&A session on the Third Man Records message board, Jack White announced that he is almost done with the follow-up to his solo debut Blunderbuss. The new, as-of-yet untitled solo album will be White’s in two years; a new album from his supergroup The Dead Weather is due out in 2015.
White described the new solo album as not having one sound in an interview conducted last February. “Like you heard in Blunderbuss, there’s many different styles there,” White said. “I don’t pick my style…I just write whatever comes out of me.”
While he seems to be moving forward, White is also taking the opportunity to re-visit his past: Third Man’s Vault series is re-issuing the four singles from the seminal White Stripes album Elephant with newly-recorded custom b-sides. White was also spotted playing Raconteurs songs at a Brendan Benson show in December.
