The Hold Steady released a new single, “I Hope This Whole Thing Didn’t Frighten You” on Rolling Stone’s website today. The Brooklyn-based band, who just signed with Washington Square Records, is releasing their sixth studio album Teeth Dreams March 25. Teeth Dreams will be the band’s first album in nearly four years.
The band is kicking off a tour Jan. 29 in Memphis, Tenn., and will be celebrating their tenth anniversary with a Feb. 6 show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg and Feb. 7 at The Brewery in Harrisburg, Pa. They are also releasing a crowdfunded covers EP, RAGS, which will only be available to the Hold Steady’s fan club, the Unified Scene. Portions of the proceeds from that album, as well as the Harrisburg concert will benefit the family of “Jersey Mike” Van Jura, a longtime friend and fan of the band who died suddenly in 2012.
