Country legends Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and Merle Haggard shared the stage at this year’s Grammy Awards for what ended up being one of the ceremony’s more memorable performances. Apparently, that’s not the last we’ll hear from the trio: Billboard reports that the three are talking about working on an album together.
“We’re working on [an album] now, yeah,” Nelson said when asked if the three were working together. According to Nelson, the album will come out “as soon as we get together.”
All three singers have crossed paths multiple times throughout their careers. Both Nelson and Kristofferson were members of country supergroup the Highwaymen alongside Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings, and Haggard had a hit with Nelson in 1983 with “Pancho & Lefty.” Surprisingly, this new album would be the first time that Kristofferson and Haggard have recorded together.
