Blues-rock vocalist Beth Hart and guitar legend Joe Bonamassa will release a live CD in March on the heels of their Grammy-nominated second album, Seesaw.
The duo’s debut live album, recorded at the Koninklijk Theater Carré in Amsterdam, features songs from Seesaw, their 2011 album Don’t Explain and a range of covers from artists from Nina Simone to Tom Waits. The duo wanted to evoke a past era of music recording, of live performances with few overdubs.
“What we’re trying to capture is an era of reaction and spontaneity—something that was a great inspiration for me as a budding musician,” Bonamassa said.
While the CD includes 22 tracks performed with a full band and horn section, the DVD/Blu-ray release will also feature more than two hours of behind-the-scenes footage.
Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa: Live from Amsterdam will be released March 25.
