Mary Chapin Carpenter has more than established herself as a songwriter of the highest caliber, but her latest project has her exploring the realms of classical music. Chapin’s new album Songs From The Movie re-imagines her songs as orchestral suites, a far cry from the down-home Americana sound that has characterized Carpenter’s career so far. The album has also given Carpenter the chance to share the stage with a group that many singers dream of playing with: the New York Philharmonic.
Carpenter will perform with the Philharmonic for a two-night engagement at Lincoln Center in New York City. Grammy-winning composer Vince Mendoza, who worked with Carpenter on Songs From The Movie, will be joining her for the performance, as will some of Carpenter’s longtime friends and collaborators like Joan Baez, Jerry Douglas, Shawn Colvin, Tift Merritt, and Aofie O’Donovan.
To purchase tickets to either of Carpenter’s performances with the New York Philharmonic, visit the Philharmonic’s website.
