It seems that Josh Homme wasn’t the only person with a few harsh words about the Grammys. In an interview with New Zealand’s 3 News, Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor expressed his dissatisfaction with the awards show that both he and Homme performed at this year.
Calling the ceremony “a waste of time,” Reznor revealed that he and Homme both had misgivings about playing that night. “Josh and I spent a lot of time weighing the pros and cons,” Reznor said. “Let’s roll the dice and go into it with the best intentions, with a performance we think is worthy and might – you know – stand out from the crowd.”
The performance in question, which features Reznor and Homme performing with Dave Grohl and Lindsey Buckingham, was placed at the end of the Grammys broadcast and controversially cut off by a commercial. Though Reznor said that he didn’t regret going to the show–“If we hadn’t done it, I’d be thinking, ‘Well, what would have happened if we would have done it,” he said–but he has no plans to go back to the Grammys again. “More than anything, it was just insulting,” Reznor said.
Reznor’s friend Homme already took a shot at the Grammys in a less eloquent manner at a recent Queens Of The Stone Age performance.
