The hard-rocking Long Island quartet The Montauk Project may take their name from a secret government psychology project conducted in the 1980s, but there’s nothing overtly cerebral about the band, and we couldn’t be happier. The Montauk Project stick to rock in its hardest, purest form, taking more from classic influences like Black Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix to create something that’s retro in all the right ways.
The band’s new album, Belly Of The Beast, comes out on March 25th, and it is the culmination of years of hard work and relentless gigging in Manhattan’s club scene. It’s a fully-formed sound that seems to have been around forever, which is a testament to The Montauk Project’s skills as songwriters.
