The end is nigh. That’s according to Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, who said back in 2012 that there was “more of a chance of an asteroid hitting the Earth” than there was of Christine McVie rejoining the legendary group. From where we’re standing, it doesn’t look like anything’s falling out of the sky, but McVie is back in the fold; she’ll be rejoining Fleetwood Mac on tour for the first time since leaving the group in 1998.
Fleetwood Mac’s On With The Show tour kicks off on September 30th at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band plan to tour across the United States through the fall into December.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, McVie explained her reasons behind leaving the group in the Nineties only to come back now: “I had some deluded idea that I wanted to live the ‘country lady’ life, but then I went through a divorce and felt isolated in the country.”
The band are moving ahead with rehearsals for the tour despite bassist John McVie’s cancer diagnosis last year. Word from the band is that he is recovering well. “He gets tired quicky, but he’s on the mend,” Christine said. “He’s been such a man about this whole thing. I have renewed respect and love for him.”
