British rockers the Kooks have released their first new music in almost three years with the premiere of “Down” next month. Written by frontman Luke Pritchard and was produced by hip-hop producer Inflo. With its hip-hop influence, the track is radically different than the group’s earlier Britpop and rock influence.
The Kooks are currently in Austin performing at the South by Southwest Music Festival, where they will be premiering more new material.
“With this record we didn’t do any rehearsing beforehand,” Pritchard said. “I’d write a song with Inflo or on my own, put it up and we’d all play over it. There was a real freedom to the process.”
The single debuted on BBC’s Radio 1 March 11, and will get an official release April 20 on 7″ vinyl and digitally.
