Bluesman Walter Trout will release a new album this year as he continues his fight against liver disease. Titled The Blues Came Callin’, the album is set to be released on June 10th.
Recorded throughout 2013, the album contains ten of Walter’s meditations on life and mortality following his diagnosis. Two more songs are included as well: one written by Trout’s former collaborator John Mayall for the album, and a cover of a J.B. Lenoir tune.
The album’s release coincides with the upcoming release of Trout’s biography. Written by Henry Yates, the book follows Trout’s career as a hard-working, hard-living bluesman and sideman to John Mayall before finding his big break in 1989 and striking out on his own for a successful solo career.
Currently, Walter Trout is in the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles awaiting a liver transplant. His family have set up a page to collect donations to help cover Walter’s medical expenses, and we strongly urge that anyone who can donate does so.
