John Gorka is one of the most expressive performers of his time, a folk legend whose work has only gotten better with age. His latest, Bright Side Of Down, is a favorite here at Elmore; writer Gene Knapp described the album as “a flowing piece of art that covers all the bases and exposes all sides of Gorka’s personality.” (You can read the full review here.) 25 years on, Gorka can still find ways to surprise his audience. He’ll be coming to New York this month for a night at SubCulture in New York’s Greenwich Village. We’d imagine that Gorka will feel right at home playing in the neighborhood that gave us Bob Dylan.
Tickets can be purchased on the SubCulture website and through Ticketfly.
