An off-Broadway production of a musical based on the life of Janis Joplin has been postponed indefinitely. Producers for the production of “A Night With Janis Joplin” are citing “production issues” as the source of the delay.
The musical, which stars Mary Bridget Davies as Joplin, takes audiences through the singer’s well-known catalog. The show opened on Broadway to considerable acclaim, and it was just going to start a run at Manhattan’s Gramercy Theater before things apparently hit a snag. According to reports in the Associated Press, the producers will be offering refunds to those people who had already purchased tickets.
Despite this setback, 2014 is sure to be a banner year for the late singer, as the United States Postal Service has confirmed that it will be issuing a commemorative stamp honoring Joplin.
