Nirvana are being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year, and surviving members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear have all been confirmed to perform at the ceremony. The big question, though, is that of who would fill the shoes of the band’s late lead singer Kurt Cobain. The rumors have picked everyone from Paul McCartney (who performed with the band on the soundtrack to Grohl’s Sound City documentary) to Michael Stipe (who will induct the band into the Hall of Fame) and even Courtney Love (who has claimed that she’ll be at the ceremony, but who knows at this point…). However, a picture on Dave Grohl’s Instagram account may have spilled the beans on who will front the legendary band this time around.
Last night, Grohl posted a picture from the band’s rehearsal space of their equipment alongside Joan Jett’s sticker-covered Melody Maker guitar. While no one has said anything close to a confirmation, it’s safe to conclude that Jett, who collaborated with Grohl on her 2013 album Unvarnished, will be involved in the induction somehow.
Nirvana will be inducted along with KISS, Linda Ronstadt, Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates, Cat Stevens, and The E Street Band this Thursday at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn.
