Last night was the moment in the spotlight for the surviving members of Nirvana as the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. After Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear accepted the award, the band reunited for a performance with Joan Jett, St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, and Lorde filling in for the departed Kurt Cobain. As it turns out, though, the band weren’t done after the lights went down at the Barclay’s Center.
Ninety minutes after their induction, Nirvana hit the stage at Brooklyn’s St. Vitus for a full set with a rotating group of guests vocalists. Jett, Gordon, and St. Vincent joined them again, as well as Dinosaur Jr.’s J. Mascis and Deer Tick’s John McAuley (who has turned his band into a Nirvana tribute band more than once.) Check out Jett and Nirvana performing the iconic “Smells Like Teen Spirit” below.
