Despite rumors stoked by a cryptic tweet from former singer Liam Gallagher, organizers from the Glastonbury Festival have confirmed that Oasis will not be getting back together to play the massive festival this summer. The rumors, which were sparked when Gallagher posted the word “OASIS” on his Twitter account, became so rampant that bookmakers in the United Kingdom were forced to suspend betting on whether or not the band would headline Glastonbury.
Since this year marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the band’s debut Definitely Maybe, there has been more than a fair amount of speculation as to whether the band, who haven’t played together since 2009, would get back together to mark the occasion. Both Liam and brother Noel Gallagher have done their fair share to dispel those rumors, though Liam has recently indicated in interviews that he may be having a change of heart on the matter. Noel, however, wants nothing to do with the band anymore, having recently told Rolling Stone that “if there is a reunion, I won’t be involved.”
