Dean Wareham has long been one of the most original voices in American rock music, both literally and figuratively. His wavering vocals are instantly distinctive, and there are few–if any–songwriters who are writing anything like his impressive body of work. Now, Wareham is releasing his first set of proper solo material, and it’s every bit as good as his work with Galaxie 500 and Luna, even though it’s more meditative stuff from a older, wiser man. The man’s live shows have been reinvigorated, as well; it seems as if Wareham is more in love with his work than he ever has been before.
