Long known as the guitarist in the James Cotton band, Slam Allen’s career has taken more than a few interesting turns. Allen got his start at a young age when he played in the Allen Brothers Band with his father and uncle, and he has since found himself playing blues and soul around the world. On his own, Allen keeps true to the traditions of soul and blues that he’s been forging with artists like Cotton for over 20 years. Even when he’s playing the classics, he puts a stamp on the music that is all his own. Don’t miss him when he comes to play Lucille’s at B.B. King’s Blues Club in Manhattan; you can get your tickets here.
