Rock legend Robert Plant has just signed to a new record label in advance of releasing a new albu. The untitled new project, which is set to feature The Sensational Space Shifters as Plant’s backing band, is set for release on Nonesuch Records in the coming year.
Plant’s new album will be his tenth solo effort, and it will be the first that fans have heard from him since 2010’s Americana-tinged Band Of Joy. Since the disbanding of Led Zeppelin in 1980, Plant has hopped from genre to genre on a number of releases, but his forays into Americana with Band Of Joy and the Grammy-winning Alison Krauss collaboration Raising Sand have given his career new life.
In a statement released by Nonesuch, Plant expressed excitement about getting back into the studio. “I’m pleased to find such a reputable home for our renegade departures,” he said. “The support and encouragement we have received has been strong and refreshing.”
Before Plant starts recording again, though, he’s going to be on the festival circuit. He and the Space Shifters are schedules to play Glastonbury, Pinkpop, and Montreux, among other European festivals.
