It’s been a few years since Built To Spill last released an album, but they’ve kept themselves more than busy on the road. The jam-heavy indie rock band has been going strong for almost 20 years now, and they’ve tried everything from tight, intelligent indie pop to barnstorming guitar rock over the course of their career. Fans of Neil Young & Crazy Horse would do themselves right to check the band out; Doug Martsch’s guitar often sounds like something taken straight off of Zuma or Rust Never Sleeps. (They also do a crazy good version of “Cortez The Killer.”) They’ll be heading to the tri-state area for a series of shows; we recommend heading out to Asbury Park to catch the band at the legendary Stone Pony.
