Gabriel Kelley has long been one of our favorite up-and-coming singer-songwriters. His album, It Don’t Come Easy, is a harrowing, honest piece of work, an album made by a consummate songwriter comfortable in his own skin. It was a difficult journey for Kelley to embark on: once a successful songwriter on Nashville’s Music Row, he left it all behind so that he could create music on his own terms. We can definitely say that he’s succeeded. He’ll be coming to City Winery’s New York outpost for two nights opening for British alt-folk act World Party; this is one where we’d definitely recommend coming early for the opener.
