This should be the year when everyone discovers Marissa Nadler. The singer/songwriter released her latest album, July, earlier this year, and it’s arguably her best work yet. Elmore contributor Keith Hadad praised Nadler’s gift for harmonies and her alluring voice while comparing her lyrical prowess to that of Joni Mitchell. That sort of praise isn’t just handed out willy-nilly. Nadler’s enrapturing live show is worth seeing at any price, but she’s giving fans a real treat this summer with a free performance at Brooklyn’s Red Hook Park alongside Mark McGuire and Delicate Steve. We can’t think of anyone better to listen to as the sun sets over Brooklyn.
