The 2014 Nantucket Music Festival has announced legendary Boston indie-roots band Dispatch as headlining artists to perform on Tom Nevers Field. Net proceeds from the inaugural event, being held on August 2nd and 3rd, will benefit the Nantucket Community Music Center through the non-profit Celebrate Music Foundation, Inc.
“Dispatch is without a doubt one of our favorites,” Cynthia Dareshori, NMF co-executive director, said in a statement to the press. She accredited them to previously drawing 110,000 fans to Boston’s Hatch Shell concert in 2004 and having a broad reach of fans. Also saying, their performance will “make the festival even better than it already was shaping up to be.”
Tom Nevers Field, which sits on nine acres overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, will host two stages for 20 folk, rock, country, blues, jazz, soft reggae, singer-songwriter bands; including Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zeros, Guster, Entrain, Lukas Nelson & P.O.T.R., Steel Pulse, Crash, Donovan Frankenreiter, Ben Taylor, Bruce Hornsby, and other local and regional talent.
The festival, which launched in 2014, will also offer 50 tents on either side of the two stages where attendees can enjoy local food, artisan vendors, and activities for children.
