Chad Hollister’s sweet, soulful tunes have attracted the attention of people like Bob Dylan and Tom Petty, and it’s easy to see why. Over the course of four albums, Hollister’s deft take on singer/songwriter-based pop is life-affirming in a way that few songwriters ever try to be. This year, Hollister is releasing his fifth album, and he’s given listeners the first taste with “Breathe.” With an airy keyboard track reminiscent of the Wallflowers and a stunning, twang-filled vocal performance from Hollister, “Breathe” is an excellent indicator of things to come.
