Dead Fingers, the husband-and-wife duo of Taylor Hollingsworth and Kate Taylor, released their second album last week. Big Black Dog features newly-added drummer Alan Rosser accompanying the new parents and completing the folk/blues trio. “Shoom Doom Babba Labba” is an upbeat number with tongue-twisting lyrics. Hollingsworth’s twangy vocals are in juxtaposition with Taylor’s sweet, melodic voice. The two mostly sing together, harmonizing on an unexpected and quirky sound, putting a new spin on familiar southern themes.
Based out of Birmingham, AL, Dead Fingers are no new-comers to the industry. Taylor Hollingsworth was previously a member of Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band- the duo’s 2012 self-titled debut album was released on Big Legal Mess Records. Kate Taylor frequently accompanied her sister Maria Taylor on tour, playing various instruments in Maria’s original neo-folk songs. Dead Fingers are currently on tour.
