Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Brett Newski just released his third album, entitled American Folk Armageddon. After moving from America to Asia in 2011, Newski recorded power-folk songs from studios in Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and the Phillipines. While in Saigon, he wrote almost 100 songs as, he claims, an effort to keep his ADD under control. The newly-released track “Hell Will Be Better If We’re In It Together” features a passionate chorale, enthusiastic acoustic guitar, and a brief “breakdown.” Newski’s noteworthy vocal style features a classic folk sound with a refreshingly-modern twist. The alluring newly-released track is available below for an exclusive download, only at Elmore.
The Milwaukee, WI native has two previous power-folk albums- In Between Exits and Saigon at Night– in addition to a section on his website called “Stories,” which showcases his writing skills and guarantee a good laugh. Newski is performing throughout Europe this summer on his “Move to Berlin Tour.” If you’re not heading overseas anytime soon, you can still see “Hell Will Be Better If We’re In It Together” performed live in the video below.
