Brooklyn rock band Nude Beach made a splash in 2012 with their album II, but the band are now aiming for bigger and better things with their next project. This fall, Nude Beach will release 77, an ambitious double album set for release on Don Giovanni Records.
In an interview with SPIN, Nude Beach drummer Ryan Nadieau talked about the process behind recording 77: “[The album] is a collection of stuff we’ve been working on for the past couple of years,” Nadieau said. “We recorded the whole thing ourselves in a basement studio on Long Island and in bedrooms in Brooklyn and are psyched to share this record with everyone.” Bassist Jim Shelton said that the album would showcase a more diverse and intricate take on the band’s well-honed garage-pop sound. “It’s a document of the full spectrum of influences and ideas we’ve had over the last two years and I think is a more accurate picture of what we want to sound like as a band,” he said.
The band have already shared one of 77‘s new tracks, “I Can’t Keep The Tears From Falling.” At the outset, the song points towards a harder, heavier direction for Nude Beach, but once the distorted guitars of the intro go silent, the band fall back into the bar-rock groove that they handle so well.
77 comes out on October 21st on Don Giovanni Records. You can listen to “I Can’t Keep The Tears From Falling” below:
Can’t wait to hear what these guys will do next! Their last album was great, like the second coming of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.
