In advance of the November 10 release of their new album, Sonic Highways, Foo Fighters will premiere an HBO series (of the same name) on October 17. The new album saw the band traveling to eight different cities across the country in order to capture the musical spirit of each one. The HBO series will let viewers in on this process – as well as, apparently, include interviews from every musician ever. The just-released trailer below teases interview clips with Willie Nelson, LL Cool J, Macklemore, Pharell, Dolly Parton, Steve Albini, ZZ Top, Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Rick Rubin, Chuck D, Paul Stanley, Josh Homme, Dan Auerbach, Thurston Moore, Barack Obama and – somehow – more. And if they ever want to do an Odd Couple-style spinoff series, there are some pairings here that would be absolute gold. While dreaming up those scenarios (although, come on, Albini and Macklemore would clearly be the best), you can pre-order the album here and watch the trailer below.
Wow! This show looks really good- I trust HBO to do it the right way. I can’t believe how many influential people had cameos in just the trailer.
The concept reminds me of Ice Cube’s documentary the Art of Rap… can’t wait to see the HBO program.
A series like this has been long overdue. But I must say it’s a little unexpected that Foo Fighters are behind this and it’s not someone a little more current.
